A Mercury and heavy metal salts scavenger chemical: is a reactive mercury scavenger for the common mercurous and mercuric salt species – occurring or transformed to chlorides, sulphates, nitrates etc, and derived from co salts-minerals e.g. stibnites and livingstonenites (minerals involving mercury-antimony and sulphur).


These salts are free as salts if dissolved in production or refinery wastewaters, but can be found adsorbed on clays and carbonaceous materials. It can be also be used to scavenge heavy metal ion species which are normally found with mercury and selenium in these waters. These ions are scavenged by direct injection into production fluids or used in the water systems or in tank effluent and drainage systems where these ions are present. Waste water systems can be treated with this chemical.


The product can be used in outflows of sweetening units, or gas treating units, packed in towers adsorbed on solid matrices to scavenge the family of selenium and its salts.
